Article processing charge (APC)

There is no fee for submitting or reviewing a manuscript.

All articles published in Kidneys are open access and freely available online immediately upon publication. This is made possible through an Article Processing Charge (APC), which covers the full range of publishing services, including:

• Management of the peer review and editorial process

• Article production, formatting, and online hosting

• Permanent archiving in recognized repositories to ensure long-term accessibility

• Support for discoverability through metadata and compliance with industry standards

The APC, payable once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, is USD 1,000 per article. Upon acceptance, the corresponding author will receive an invoice with payment instructions. The APC may be paid by the author, the author’s institution, research funder, or employer.

Please note: While we ensure that all articles are prepared to meet industry standards for discoverability and accessibility, inclusion in external databases such as Scopus is subject to their independent evaluation processes and cannot be guaranteed.
